PRISM Technical Information
Security
Usernames and passwords are assigned for each user. A mechanism is provided if you wish to use your network security for PRISM so the user doesn't need to remember an additional password.
The PRISM Enterprise Manager allows you to create roles that manage security with the PRISM software. These roles allow you to restrict certain capabilities with the program if necessary. Some examples of the types of privileges you set are listed below (the list is a partial list of the privileges available).

- Which columns are viewable and editable
- Where they are allowed to add records, delete records, edit records, export, import, etc.
- What book types they will be allowed to view
- What book types they will have write access to
- What books they can delete

- If they are permitted to modify reports and labels
- If they are allowed to make system administrator changes such as adding new columns
Language Support
PRISM will display and handle numbers and dates according to the regional settings on the client's machine. For example, a Germany setting would display 1.99 as 1,99 and February 17, 2001 as 17.02.2001.
PRISM offers a translation system that allows one or more users to translate interface screens in PRISM. Unicode character sets are supported throughout PRISM in the interface and for stored data.
Since you can define your own columns in PRISM Enterprise Manager, you can define the columns as metric columns if desired.

Multiple User Connections
PRISM is a 32/64-bit application that can be run on Microsoft® Windows®. CSSI has participated in the Microsoft Developer Network programs and Citrix Partner programs to stay current with changing technology.
PRISM can also be used in a Microsoft Terminal Services (Remote Desktop Connection) environment, the Citrix® MetaFrame® product, and other remote/virtual desktop environments.
The PRISM Service handles many intensive database processes. This allows computers with slow network connections to the server to run quickly. The PRISM Service also provides a middle layer with your specific business rules such as the Pedigree Engine.

Supported Databases
PRISM supports several databases depending on your needs and infrastructure that may already be in place. The database is hidden from the user so that knowledge of the database is not required. PRISM contains mechanisms to avoid data contention problems between users. The databases that PRISM currently supports are:
- Microsoft® SQL Server 2012
- Microsoft® SQL Server 2014
- Microsoft® SQL Server 2016
- Microsoft® SQL Server 2017
- Microsoft® SQL Server 2019
- Microsoft® SQL Server 2022
PC Requirements
PRISM uses memory efficiently and does not require much memory. Your machine should have at least the minimum processor and memory requirements recommended by Microsoft® for the operating system you are using. Windows 7 or later versions of Windows are recommended.
Server Requirements
Multiple user versions of PRISM are typically implemented with a more powerful database on a server, such as SQL Server.
The server should have at least the minimum processor and memory requirements recommended by Microsoft® for the operating system you are using. The hard drive space required depends on your data tracking needs. Please contact CSSI for an estimate of your database size needs (usually 1 million records takes 1 gigabyte).
A server is not necessary in a single user environment.
